Asia Trip: Top 10 moments
Me and Mike spent the month of August travelling around Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. These are my top 10 moments from the trip.
1. Mount Kinabalu Climb
We hiked up to 4095m to catch the sunrise at Lowe's peak. It was the most tiring thing I've ever done - I literally could not take steps for 2 days afterwards, so I gotta put it at number 1 or was it really worth it?
2. Every single dog
I met all the cutest dogs in Kota Kinabalu. Seriously half of my camera roll are full of pics of these angel pups.
3. Mount Kinabalu Holiday Camp
We camped overnight in a little hut on the side of Mount Kinabalu - run by one man and his 13 dogs, this was such a memorable night. Woke up early to see the sun rise - and we could see the lights from the climbers hiking up the back side of Mt Kinabalu!
4. Ais Kacang
My favourite dessert in Malaysia and Singapore - cendol, jellies, condensed milk, syrup, peanuts, red beans and more topped onto shaved ice. I averaged 2 per day.
5. Singapore Gardens by the Bay
A million plants and flowers - this is one of those super touristy things that is completely worth it. The light show under the trees was so entertaining.
6. Shops in Kuala Lumpur
My faves were Snackfood and Isetan the Japan Store.
7. Batu Caves (and monkeys!)
Climbed up the many (many!) stairs into the sacred Batu caves. We got there super early and were worried that we wouldn't see any monkeys - but as soon as it got busy they rushed out of the trees to beg for bananas and rice!
8. Yayoi Kusama at the Singapore National Gallery
Felt so lucky to catch this exhibit during our short stay in Singapore - can't wait until it comes to the AGO!
9. Manukan Island outside of Kota Kinabalu
A tiny island just outside of Kota Kinabalu - we went here after our climbing days and it was super relaxing - and the only two days that it didn't rain.
10. The view of Hong Kong
enough said.
