Trips trips trips!

We were so lucky this summer and got to travel all around! One of the things I completely take for granted is having such a flexible schedule - but we definitely took advantage this June and July. Although it was probably one of the best summers of my life (!!) part of me is glad to be back at home with a regular schedule - that much travel is overwhelming to say the least - so it does feel great that it's all over. Another other thing I always forget is how amazing it is to have a partner who is so easy to travel with. Thanks to my #1 homie for being the best travel companion and the only human I never get sick of! I'm going to try and do a little post for each one of our trips - Curacao, Montreal, Vancouver/Victoria, NYC, and Sandbanks! Here goes number 1 - my favourite :)

Curacao!

I've never been to the Caribbean - but both myself and my partner Mike were graduating from our Masters degrees and we needed to go out in style (and have a week of doing nothing!). The island is absolutely gorgeous - our hotel was the most relaxing place on earth (adults only hotel....godsend.), and it was so interesting to visit an tiny little island in the Caribbean where everyone speaks Dutch! I loved visiting the Dutch grocery store and stocking up on spice packets and candy, and driving up the coast of the island. BUT, the best part was taking a day trip to Klein Curacao - a tiny island off the coast with amazing snorkelling and an amazing BBQ cooked by the crew of The Mermaid boat. Perfect trip if you can stomach the boat ride there....a ride which begins with a recording suggesting that passengers "feed the fishies" off the side of the boat should they become sick. Personally I threw up 10 (or more...) times on the way, but there were dozens of polite Dutch ladies handing me napkins and giving me weird Egyptian medicine (meh, I took it). Snorkelling with turtles and shoving ribs and watermelon into our faces made up for it though! This is definitely an island I would recommend (not that I know of anywhere else) for someone hoping to visit a hot climate with a Euro flair :) Tomorrow....Montreal!

dream spot - the view from my favourite chair at our hotel.

The view from our beach....

Cas Abao beach - just before sunset!
