Created a little message out of paper yesterday to promote my new Light & Paper Facebook page. Thinking of turning some photos of handcut lettering into prints - what do ya'll think?

Day 2 of working from home! With the Etsy Made in Canada show just a few days away, I really should be prepping all the small paper items that I usually move at shows, but instead I spent the morning running errands. I am already falling into bad "work from home" habits! I watched Parks and Rec during my lunch break. I walked the dog for way too long. I did 6 errands instead of starting on the bookkeeping I have to get done (and now I am writing this instead of working on inputting receipts). I can foresee that it will be work to force myself to work (and wake up). Perhaps I will try and schedule 7:30am coffee dates everyday to force myself out of bed. And perhaps lunch meetings to force myself away from the TV.
But for now - I will get off the internet and get back to my 6 foot stack of bills, and try not to feel too angry at my own procrastinating personality that isn't necessarily the best fit for running my own business (yikes!). I will take some inspiration from this Einstein Quote (which will be for sale at Etsy Made in Canada!) and embrace trying something new!
Hope to see ya'll on Saturday!

My first *new* blog post. Today, September 14th, a day before my 27th birthday, I am happy to launch my revamped blog and share the exciting news that – as of this coming Friday – I am no longer with a day job. Starting next week, my time will be split between running Light & Paper, and working for my parents and their two businesses.
For a long time, I’ve known that I wanted to be my own boss, and now that it’s finally beginning, I am so overjoyed (and only slightly sick with fear). I am lucky to be in a position where I can make a jump like this. I am also lucky to have enough of an impulsive personality to allow myself to make the move to something risky and fun – especially as the job that I’m leaving is one of those jobs that makes people say “you’re set for life” or “oh wow a pension!”
Over the next few weeks I’ll be building up my blog, Etsy, and main sites – and should have some exciting new designs and products to share. So! Please! Check back here for fun updates on my work, life, and various things that I think are cool. And maybe buy some Light & Paper stuff so that my dog doesn’t go hungry!
